“I ran out of luck when two Audis overtook me. There was a Ford GT stationary on the racing line with no lights on and no yellow flags out so the first I knew of it was when the cars in front darted left and right. It was a big impact, maybe 192kph.” Richard Hein’s story is very impressive, but he could bring the car back to the pits, and the “executives” finished 4th in the LM P2 class.
The lineup of the other OAK Pescarolo made no mistakes. Right after the start they were chasing the unreachable HPDs. Later in the race the problems suffered by the Highcroft HPD and the ASM Ginetta Zytek brought them to the runner-up spot, and they maintained that position until the chequered flag. OAK Racing scored their third podium finish in a row, and Guillaume Moreau thinks that “the team is ready for the LMP1 class” after this performance.
