Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - Petit Le Mans

Peugeot had a second consecutive 1-2 finish in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 2010. The 908 HDi FAP of Stephane Sarrazin, Pedro Lamy and Franck Montagny won the 13th annual Petit Le Mans, ahead of the second 908 HDi FAP, putting a claim on the title of the first ILMC that is almost unassailable.

Bruno Famin (Technical Director): "We had a very good strategy, and we used our two cars to protect us from the Audis. We didn’t have a single technical issue, with the exception of slight body damage resulting from the occasional virile passing manoeuvres. The team did an absolutely impeccable job and all our drivers coped perfectly with the traffic. We haven’t yet achieved our objective in the ILMC but we are close. We only need to get one 908 to the finish at Zhuhai to win the championship."

Pedro Lamy: "I couldn’t have wished for a better way to celebrate my last outing in the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. Today’s one-two finish is a great result for the team, and it’s also my second win with Peugeot this year after Spa. It was important not to make any mistakes because everybody hit the ground running. In spite of the high number of safety car interruptions, and despite the traffic, my stint went well and the team couldn’t be faulted on its strategy."

Franck Montagny: "Pedro, Stéphane and I prepared thoroughly for this race, but without any stress. The car is now a known entity, so we didn’t have any concerns on that front. After that, we worked the way we usually do and, although it wasn’t easy, this win was the fruit of solid groundwork. We were able to have total confidence in the team with regard to strategy."

Stéphane Sarrazin: "It’s been a perfect day for us. We’ have taken our second win in the Petit Le Mans after our victory here in the wet in 2009. My team-mates Franck and Pedro did an outstanding job, as did the mechanics and everyone in the Peugeot Sport team. It was tough towards the end, after the sun had gone down, because there were a lot of slower cars on the track."
