On October 30, 1990, the junction between the two tunnel boring machines working to excavate the Channel tunnel was met, and the British isle became inseparable to the European continent! On June 17, 1990 a British car, the Jaguar XJR-12, entered by a British team, Jaguar-Tom Walkinshaw Racing, with a British driver, Martin Brundle, won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That year for the very first time, two chicanes appeared at the Mulsanne Straight, and though Porsche and Nissan (pole position) were leading the race, in the end Jaguar emerged victorious with the third car (#3 XJR-12) driven by John Nielsen, Price Cobb and Martin Brundle, often the case at the 24 Hours of Le Mans…
The second round of the 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) takes place this Sunday 4 May at the Circuit Paul Ricard, as part of the 4 Heures du Castellet. An impressive 44 cars are expected on the grid, with a large French contingent on home soil in terms of both drivers and teams.
