Photo of the Day - George Duller and Sunbeam at the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans

On October 20, 1714, George I was crowned King of Great Britain at Westminster Abbey. On June 20, 1925, George Duller was the first Brit named George to take the start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Unfortunately, the official #15 Sunbeam he shared with Sir Henry Segrave - the first driver to surpass 200 mph (320 km/h) and who passed away in 1930 attempting to set a new water speed record - was forced to retire. At the time, the pits were more rudimentary and the driver himself was put to use, as shown in this photo!
