Pontlieue : Recreating 1923

Great public response to the recreation of the legendary Pontlieue hairpin.

Yesterday evening, Pierre Fillon (president of the ACO) and Jean-Claude Boulard (mayor of Le Mans) were delighted by the popular success of this event that celebrates the 90th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In his 19 participations, Emmanuel Collard never knew Pontlieue and for a good reason: the circuit has not included the corner since 1932! The former Pescarolo Sport driver, wrestled his car around the legendary turn. "Thanks to Manu, we can now see how brave the pre-war drivers were", said Romain Dumas, who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. "Driving with huge monsters, without a helmet, without race suit or belts ... Just try to understand how it was! Thank you to the ACO and Le Mans for giving me the opportunity. "

The party continued on the outskirts of the specially constructed mini-circuit where the night life of the 1920's Le Mans was faithfully recreated.
