Porsche testing in Spain with the 919 Hybrid

The testing campaign for the 2017 season of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has begun for Porsche with sessions over several days at Motorland Aragon in Spain for Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber.

The World Endurance Champion and winner at the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans took turns at the wheel of the 2017 version of Porsche 919 Hybrid even though persistent fog cut short the track time of the two New Zealanders.

They joined forces with Timo Bernhard, after Mark Webber's retirement from competiton, while Neel Jani was supported by Nick Tandy, with whom Earl Bamber won at Le Mans, and André Lotterer from Audi.

"I am thrilled to be back in the Porsche 919 Hybrid, which has made a lot of progress since the last time I was behind the wheel after a long break," explained Earl Bamber on Porsche's Twitter feed. Porsche won its 18th win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year thanks to Romain Dumas, Marc Lieb (not longer part of the program) and Neel Jani.
