President Plassart bids farewell

Jean-Claude Plassart covers his last endurance race as President of the ACO. He bid farewell at a press conference this morning in the build-up to the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps WEC.

Before an audience of journalists, Jean-Claude Plassart (ACO President), Pierre Fillon (ACO Vice President) and Lindsay Owen-Jones (President of the FIA Endurance Commission) responded to questions asked on topics as diverse as race format, the resolution of the GTE Pro category, and the future of hybrid powertrains.

In conclusion, the organizers and the audience paid tribute to Jean-Claude Plassart who is nearly 70, and will step down at the end of the month.

Jean-Claude Plassart, ACO President: "I spent eight wonderful years at the head of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, but I'm just a tiny brick in the history of the ACO and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I especially want to thank you, drivers, teams and partners who perpetuate the legend of Le Mans. I also wish long life to the FIA World Endurance Championship ​​which is the result of joint work with Jean Todt. Thank you all. "

The name of his successor will be announced on the 31st May, following the elections to be held in the General Assembly of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest.
