The 26 year old Austrian was elected "Driver of the Year" by the Austrian Motorsport Association.

The title was well earned. He and his team-mate Marc Lieb (German) dominated their opponents in GT2 class. Together they won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Le Mans Series and the Team title Intercontinental Le Mans Cup for Felbermayr-Proton. Finally, Lietz finished second in the 24 hours of Spa, and was 'vice champion' in GT Open.

Richard Lietz: "I am delighted to receive this distinction which marks a new highlight of my career. As a Porsche works driver, I am very proud to be able to improve the ranking of the greatest racing car of the series what the 911 GT3 RSR. "

The trophy will be presented on the 30th Nov at the Technical Museum of Vienna. Richard Lietz succeeds Alexander Wurz, the works Peugeot driver, who received the title a year ago.
