Risi Competizione aimed at a third LMGT2 win in a row, for its last 24 Hours with the F430 GT. The coming of Corvette in this category offered a fabulous duel which started in qualifying. Together with the AF Corse Ferrari of Alesi-Fisichella-Vilander and the two Corvettes, the Ferrari of Melo-Bruni-Kaffer broke the four-minute lap barrier. It took the pole, but was relegated because of a non-conformity of the rear wing.
The 82 started the 24 Hours from the last position on the grid, and rapidly challenged the Vettes for the class lead, and a fierce battle started on Saturday evening between the three cars. The red Ferrari retired at 1 AM due to gearbox failure. The green and blue 83 suffered electrical problems in qualifying, and a contact with a prototype in race. It also retired on Sunday morning at 6 AM with smoke coming from the rear and a broken engine.
