Road To Le Mans - Emanuele Busnelli (Lamborghini): "The goal is the 24 Hours of Le Mans."

Emanuele Busnelli is an Italian driver competing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup. He drives the #46 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 entered by the Ebimotors team and is now gearing up for Road to Le Mans, a race dear to his heart, before jumping into the 24 Hours of Le Mans next year.

What made you decide to compete in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year?

"I stopped competing in 2008 and returned last year. I did a few races and early this year participated in the Rolex 24 at Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring (with Emmanuel Collard, Ed.). The goal is to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the only way to get there is the Michelin Le Mans Cup. We are already working on a Le Mans project with either an LMP2 or a GTE. We'll decide at the end of the season. In 2018, we'll take part in the European Le Mans Series and submit a request to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans."

What is your objective in the Michelin Le Mans Cup?

"To finish first in order to earn an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. If that's the case, we'll have to enter an LMGTE. We'll see...we like the LMP2s a lot as well."

You will be participating in Road to Le Mans in a few days, what does the race mean to you?

"First, I love 24-hour races, and especially Le Mans. I never miss one, I watch them on television and better not be interrupted (laugh, Ed.). The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the most wonderful race in the world. We would have wanted to participate this year but I wasn't ready, my performance level isn't up to par. I've already done the Rolex 24 at Daytona three times, the 24 Hours of Spa three times and the 12 Hours of Sebring, but the 24 Hours of Le Mans not yet! When the Road to Le Mans race is done, I'll go cheer on my friends Emmanuel Collard, François Perrodo and Matthieu Vaxivière (TDS Racing's #28 Oreca 07-Gibson, LMP2, Ed.)."

"Road To Le Mans will allow us to experience the 24 Hours of Le Mans to some degree, to live out the full week, to hit the track at the great circuit. I've had the race in mind for quite some time now, event before the Michelin Le Mans Cup season began. I can't wait to hit the track, I'm going to have to learn its long straights but also the turns which are not easy."

What is your link to Ebimotors?

"The team belongs to Enrico Borghi who is also a driver. For the team, doing Daytona and Sebring were important events and the team rose to the occasion very well. We have a shared goal with Enrico, to do Le Mans with Ebimotors and Fabio (Babini, who has participated six times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the last was in 2009, Ed.) as a teammate. We'll see who will serve as the third driver."
