Robert Kubica bows out of the FIA WEC and 24 Hours of Le Mans

It was with a short message posted on his Facebook page today that Robert Kubica announced he had brought to an end his collaboration with private LM P1 team ByKOLLES Racing Team. Consequently, the former F1 driver will participate in neither the 2017 season of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) nor the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Robert Kubica - who tested ByKOLLES Racing Team's CLM P1/01 for the first time at the Rookie Test organized by the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) the day after the final race of the season at Bahrain - had decided to join the Austrian outfit for the 2017 campaign, but the Polish driver has now withdrawn, just a few days before the kickoff of the season at Silverstone.

The winner of the F1 Grand Prix of Canada was present in early April at Monza in Italy for the Prologue, the official testing sessions of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), but he was only able to do one lap in two days as a result of technical problems encountered by his teammate Oliver Webb.

Nonetheless, Robert Kubica hopes this is temporary and that he will have the opportunity in the future to compete in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the third race on the calendar.
