Romain Dumas (Porsche) awarded at the 2016 "Trophées du sport automobile"

In the wake of the FIA, Porsche and the BRDC (British Racing Drivers' Club), it was the FFSA's (Fédération Française du Sport Automobile) turn to award a trophy to Romain Dumas for his performances in 2016.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans, World Endurance Champion and Pikes Peak International Hill Climb trophies are now joined by the "Volant d’Or" in the 2016 collection of Romain Dumas, official Porsche driver, after the 2016 motorsports trophies ceremony that just took place yesterday in Paris.

The French driver, who will not partake in Porsche's LM P1 program in 2017, was named World Endurance Champion for the first time. He was no newcomer to Pikes Peak in Colorado, where he won in 2014, nor at Le Mans since he won at the 78th edition of the 24 Hours with Audi in 2010 by beating the distance record held since 1971.

During the evening, others were also awarded the "Volant d’Or," including Simon Pagenaud, second at the 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans with Peugeot (for his title in the IndyCar Series), and the duo Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia for its World Rally Champion title. Like at the FIA gala, Frédéric Sausset - the first quad-amputee to take the start at and cross the finish line of the 24 Hours of Le Mans - received a special trophy for his performance.
