Nothing stops the winner of the final round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season with the Porsche 919 Hybrid, not even the known unpredictable behaviour of the Porsche 911 on snow. Two days after his return from South America where he will compete in Dakar at the wheel of Ecurie de Cœur's buggy, in support of the Chirurgie Mécénat Cardiaque association, Romain Dumas will then hit the road in Monte Carlo for the very first time.
Like in Alsace at the French round of the WRC, the French driver will enter a Porsche 911 GT3 adjusted carefully by his team RD Limited, at the legendary rally his father Maurice competed in. Dumas: "It’s one of the most prestigious events, but also one of the most difficult. I can’t imagine a more complicated rally, with numerous types of conditions and road surfaces, and therefore different driving styles needed. I’ve never competed in a rally in the snow, and I think that with the Porsche it will be a true challenge. But that’s what makes the Monte-Carlo so intriguing. My father did it when I was a child, and Porsche has a nice history here with four wins. All of this combines to make me very happy to finally be in the Monte-Carlo. It’s been several years that we’ve been working on this project. This time, we are here."
No rest then for Romain Dumas who will be in Dakar from January 4th through the 17th, and in Monte Carlo on January 19th, going from the desert to snow in a matter of hours, before starting the endurance season again with Porsche on April 12th at Silverstone in the U.K.
