Romain Dumas (Porsche) will be defending his title at Pikes Peak in June

Two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Pikes Peak, Porsche works driver Romain Dumas has confirmed he will return to Colorado in June with his Norma prototype to defend his title in the famous hill climb.

The Frenchman will be racing in the Unlimited category in the 95th running of the world-renowned “race to the clouds” on 25 June. His own team, RD Limited will be fielding the Norma MXX.

Announcing his intentions Dumas said, “Every time I do Pikes Peak, it’s always an adventure. It’s fantastic when it ends with a victory, but it always entails a lot of effort and self-sacrifice. It’s a climb which by definition means there’s always something to overcome. You never know what might happen on the day and it’s never easy. Year after year, I’ve learned to be prepared for the unpredictable. The target remains the same. I want to win. We rework the car for Pikes Peak every year but this time the change is going to be revolutionary. The number one goal is to win and the second is to break the record or at least get close.”

Eighth in the Dakar rally with Peugeot, the winner of the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours went on to claim the top spot in class at the Monte Carlo rally in a Porsche 911. Last week, he was in Tenerife training with the other Porsche drivers but the constructor has yet to announce line-ups for this year’s campaigns.
