First of all, drivers go through the administrative checks. Their licences, helmets and fire suits undergo thorough examination. Next, the cars are weighed and mesured before ACO and FIA officials inspect the safety equipment. Each year, rain or shine, the event attracts a crowd of fans. This afternoon, as the sun made a fleeting appearance, the city’s main square was full of enthusiasts jostling to get a close look at the sixty cars competing in the race this coming weekend.
No major anomalies were discovered in either session and all competitors are therefore cleared to take to the track for the practice sessions that start on Wednesday 15 June at 16:00.
