Last year, in the LM GTE Am class at Le Mans, an American Ferrari came third behind Russian team SMP Racing and Dempsey-Proton Racing. Scuderia Corsa’s all-rookie crew, Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell and Jeff Segal pulled off a superb performance at first attempt. The team has been invited to the race again this year and will be competing in the LM GTE Am class with the #62 Ferrari 458 Italia. Competition at Le Mans promises to be just as stiff as last June, so in the meantime the California-based team are going to hone their skills at the 12 hours of Sebring. The Rolex 24 at Daytona enabled them to gauge their performance in January and a second Florida track will be another opportunity to demonstrate their talent.

The first Ferrari 488 GTE, driven by Andrea Bertolini, Alessandro Pier Guidi and Daniel Serra is entered in the GTLM class, among formidable opponents such as the Corvette CV.R, the BMW M6 GT, the Ford Gts, and the Porsche 911 RSRs. The second Scuderia Corsa car will be competing in GTD with Christina Nielsen, Alessandro Balzan and Jeff Segal sharing the wheel.

Christina Nielsen has this to say about the forthcoming race: “Sebring is a super tough track on the car, so it is of course important to have a car that can handle the distance. Testing has proven so far that it is a strong long distance car. Speed is always important – and based on testing, I believe we have that – but handling all the traffic and staying consistent will be key at Sebring. The car is very good over a stint, and this will give us an advantage being able to be consistent and keep good lap times even as the tires get used more and more. Hopefully we can exploit this advantage and continue Ferrari’s success at Sebring.”
