Whereas Alpine is back in the European Le Mans Series (13th of April), the American team Starworks Motorsports will be absent from the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (14th of April).

European Le Mans Series will be the debut for the Alpine-Nissan. Entered by the French team Signatech Alpine in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), the Alpine Nissan (based on Oreca 03 chassis) is now called A 450. This name refers to the fiftieth anniversary of the brand founded by Jean Rédélé, and also the lineage of Renault-Alpine prototypes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the mid 70's : A441C 1975 (driven by the all female duo of Marie-Claude Beaumont and Lella Lombardi), the A442 (1976-1977), the A443 (1978), and of course the A442B that won in La Sarthe in 1978, in the hands of Didier Pironi and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud.

FIA World Endurance Championship: Starworks Motorsports withdraw. Surprise winner of the LM P2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2012 and in the World Championship, the American team will be absent in 2013. Team owner Peter Baron hopes to make his return to world competiton in 2014, and wishes to participate in the American round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. It will take place at the Circuit of the Americas (Austin, Texas) on the 22nd of September, and will be coupled with the eighth round of the American Le Mans Series 2013, on Saturday, 21st. Starworks Motorsports won the LM P2 class of the 24 Hours in 2012 with a Honda HPD ARX-03b driven by Enzo Potolicchio, Ryan Dalziel and Tom Kimber-Smith (seventh overall).
