With 15 years of international racing, and 9 Le Mans starts, the French driver finished 4th at the 2010 24 Hours and will compete in the Le Mans Classic on July 9-10-11.
Isn’t it strange driving such cars after a modern prototype ?
Yes, it is. I drove a fabulous Porsche 917 in the previous edition of the Le Mans Classic. It was as fast as the current prototypes but I had to brake at 300m instead of 100m!
This year you are at the wheel of two Ferraris: a 1972 365 GTB Gr.4 and a 1979 512 BBLM. Were you interested in these cars before driving them ?
Of course, I had posters of these cars in my bedroom when I was a kid ! My friend who owns all these cars knows it, and he always invites me to share the wheel with him!
So you are a Le Mans Classic regular !
Yes, I love it ! The Le Mans Classic is very well organised, the six grids are stunning, with more classic cars than meets the eye. It is a real pleasure to compete without any pressure, and also to talk with the aficionados.
And regarding the future, will you compete in the 24 Hours again ?
I don’t know yet, it will depend on Oreca’s intentions. I hope to be part of the development team anyway.
