1997 Le Mans winner Stefan Johansson, who will co-drive the No.28 Gulf Racing Middle East Lola B12/80 Coupe-Nissan, is the first of a record number of 15 former winners in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans. With 14 starts at the Sarthe, why does the former GP and Indycar driver still compete?

"Oh, why do we start? For the love of the sport. It's not for my career, it's because I love what I'm doing. Especially at Le Mans. I mean, as an individual event, I don't think there's anything like it, not even the (Indianapolis) 500."

"It's the whole thing, it's got the romance and mystique, you know, and the track is like no other track in the world. It's the best racetrack in the world, by far. Our goal is to finish; if we can do that without dramas we are in good shape.  It’s going to be difficult this year for sure with the increased level in LMP2.  The combination of professional and gentlemen drivers makes it a bigger challenge.”
