Stéphane Richelmi rounds out the trio for Jackie Chan DC Racing's second ORECA LMP2

Though Jackie Chan DC Racing is putting its faith in an unprecedented 100% Malaysian driver line-up for the #37 ORECA 07-Gibson, the Chinese team has elected to combine experience and youth for the #38 sister car, entrusting it to rookie Gabriel Aubry and previous Le Mans LMP2 winners Ho-Pin Tung (2017) and Stéphane Richelmi (2016).

Ho-Pin Tung will therefore be the only driver with the team since the creation of Jackie Chan DC Racing in 2016 to compete in the 2018-2019 World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) Super Season and the 24 Hours in 2018 (tickets) and 2019. Former teammates of the LMP2 class winner at Le Mans in 2017 have scattered: Frenchman Thomas Laurent will represent Rebellion Racing in LMP1 this season while Oliver Jarvis has crossed the Atlantic to join the Joest Racing (the outfit Audi depended on to run its cars in LMP1) program with Mazda in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The arrival of Gabriel Aubry - who has dreamed of participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since childhood - and Stéphane Richelmi within the Anglo-Chinese team (though Chinese itself, Jackie Chan DC Racing entrusts British outfit Jota Sport to run its two cars) is no surprise. The two drivers won the Asian Le Mans Series after the final round of the season at Sepang with three victories in four races, along with Harrison Newey, the son of renowned F1 designer Adrian Newey.

Gabriel Aubry, who will have just turned 20 when he takes the start at the upcoming 24 Hours on June 16th, will be able to rely on the experience levels of Ho-Pin Tung, fresh off his victory in LMP2 and his second place overall finish in 2017 at Le Mans (five participations), and Stéphane Richelmi, the son of rally driver Jean-Pierre Richelmi, winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) in the LMP2 class in 2016 with Signatech Alpine along with Nicolas Lapierre and Gustavo Menezes.

The Chinese driver born in the Netherlands and the Monaco native, both issue from the same team in the GP2 Series, Trident Racing, were already teammates in 2016. At the time, David Cheng (the DC in Jackie Chan DC Racing) fielded, with none other than Ho-Pin Tung, an Alpine A460 under the name Baxi DC Racing Alpine in collaboration with Signatech Alpine.
