“The combination of the record number of world-class cars present on our grids and an outstanding level of competition throughout 2010 gives us reason to be very optimistic for 2011”
Series President and CEO of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), Scott Atherton has every reason to be satisfied with the evolution of the series. A few hours before the green flag of the seventh round of the 2010 season on the track at Road America a provisional schedule was announced for ten rounds in 2011.
Among the changes we note the return of the race at Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway) in the fall. "It will return to its rightful place," said Bob Atherton. "Repositioning the dates that have proven successful in the past is always a risk. We had reasons which forced us to move this race this year, but I think it was a mistake."
The next season will start in the traditional manner with the 12 Hours of Sebring in March and will end in the finale at the Petit Le Mans in mid-October. Also other dates early in the year will be appreciated at Long Beach or at Lime Rock, while the test day at Sebring is restored to the calendar on the 9th and 10th of February. Two new events will be confirmed shortly.
