The 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans for Proton Competition (LMGTE Am)

43 teams (fielding 61 cars) competed in the 87th 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Super Finale of the FIA WEC 2018-19 World Endurance Championship. There were winners, of course, but also mechanical glitches, track incidents and early retirements. Joy for some, disappointment for others... Here’s a summary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the Proton Competition team, which ran in the LMGTE Am class.

TEAM: Proton Competition

Class: LMGTE Am

Car: Porsche 911 RSR

Drivers:

  • Louis Prette (1st participation)
  • Philippe Prette (1st participation)
  • Vincent Abril (1st participation)

The #78 Porsche 911 RSR fielded in this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans by Proton Competition was shared by three rookies. Vincent Abril, the only professional driver in the line-up, qualified the car in 50th position with a time of 3:52.434. Except for an incident in the Mulsanne corner gravel trap on Saturday evening, the German team enjoyed a smooth race, finishing 36th overall and sixth in the LMGTE Am class. "We were less focused on where we placed and more on making it to the chequered flag. But, we ended up finishing sixth, that's crazy! One thing is certain, we definitely want to come back to Le Mans in 2020 because you just can't top it!" said Louis Prette.
