On the 9th of February, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest invited five regular competitors of the ALMS to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2011, on 11th and 12th of June.

In the prototype classes, the LM P1 title holders of ALMS, Highcroft Racing, and the winners of the LMP Challenge Level 5 Motorsports in LM P2. In GT several manufacturers will be represented by three teams invited: Ford by Robertson Racing, Porsche by Flying Lizard Motorsports and Ferrari by Krohn Racing.

Seth Neiman (driver and team manager, Flying Lizard Motorsports): "This is the first year that we will enter two cars at Le Mans; we appreciate the opportunity offered by the ACO in granting us a second entry. In 2011, we are increasing our focus on the important long distance events and Le Mans is a significant part of that programme." After the pole position of the 24 Hours of Daytona, Flying Lizard Motorsports will soon announce the drivers of both 911 GT3 RSR. This will be the sixth consecutive appearance for the American Team at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Tracy Krohn (driver and owner of Krohn Racing): "As far as Le Mans in concerned, it's been a real goal to be able to go to Le Mans with our own team, now we have the honor of being able to do exactly that... We're very pleased that our entry into the ILMC has been accepted. I couldn't be happier about that. This is a very exciting new phase for Krohn Racing. I think it is going to open up some new opportunities" For his sixth appearance at La Sarthe, Tracy Krohn will share the wheel of his Ferrari F430 GT with teammate Nic Jönsson usual. The name of the third driver to join them at Le Mans and Sebring will be announced at a later date.

These five teams will meet in Florida on the 19th of March for the 12 Hours of Sebring, which will mark both the start of the Intercontinental Cup in Le Mans and American Le Mans Series 2011.
