A few days before his 44th birthday McNish has decided to put an end to his career as a racing driver that began in karts 32 years ago in Scotland.

The Scot, a works Audi driver, has been one of the major players in Le Mans-type endurance racing in the last 15 years winning the Le Mans 24 Hours three times (1998 Porsche, 2008 and 2013 Audi), the 2013 World Endurance Champion title with Tom Kristensen and Loïc Duval, as well as three titles in the American Le Mans Series (2000, 2006, 2007), four victories in the Sebring 12 Hours and in the Petit Le Mans, etc...

McNish’s score card at Audi reads 29 victories, 18 pole positions and 17 fastest laps in the races.

“It’s just the right moment to end my career in sports prototype racing,” explains Allan. “Together with my team-mates, Tom Kristensen and Loïc Duval, I’ve just enjoyed my best season ever in this branch of the sport capped by my victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours. I couldn’t hope to better what we’ve achieved this year.”

McNish will stay in close contact with Audi Sport and will contribute- off the track this time - to the renown of a manufacturer for which he is the only driver to have raced all the sports prototypes ranging from the Audi R8R to the R18 e-tron quattro, as well as the R8, R10 TDI, R15 TDI and the R18 TDI.

The Scot is also an eclectic driver who shone in single-seaters in Formula 1 in which he raced for Toyota, in F3000, F3, Formula Ford, etc. He also drove for Audi in the DTM in 2005.
