The Peugeot 908 HYbrid4, unveiled at Geneva will not after all be able to take part in the test day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
On the 30th March, Bruno Famin had said it was only 50% chance that the 908 prototype hybrid could run on the full Le Mans track on Day Test ... The time has finally run out for the hybrid but the three 908 entered for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be on the track on the 24th April.
Bruno Famin, Technical Director: "When the Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 was presented at the last Geneva Motor Show, we announced our ambitious goal of it attending the test day. When making the decision, we felt that the car was not mature enough to test under these conditions with acceptable reliability. To better prepare the next 24 Hours of Le Mans, all efforts of Team Peugeot Total will therefore concentrate on three conventionally powered 980. "
Olivier Quesnel, Peugeot Sport Director: "We are committed to the development of this innovative technology - in which Peugeot is a leader - and represents an important advance in terms of higher performance cars. The project continues to move forward. Our main goal this season, is the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We must do everything possible to win this race with our brand new Peugeot 908. We have a day of testing at this circuit for capturing the maximum information. Every km driven by our drivers will help us to get the best preparation for June. "
