The 'evergreen' Corvette.

Still yellow, still young, the Corvette C6.R shows no signs of old age.

The Corvette C6.R confounded sceptics at Sebring. Four examples will be on the grid of the 24 Hours of le Mans.

Launched in 2005*, the Corvette C6.R has long been the doyenne of the "Grand Touring" grid of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, however it now faces a new Porsche and Viper, a Ferrari that appeared in 2011 and an Aston Martin that originated in 2008 (but completely revised since).

Before being replaced next year by the new generation C7, the C6 cars that have been victorious six times at Le Mans (with Corvette Racing and Labre Competition) begin their last official campaign. One too many? Going by the 12 Hours of Sebring, absolutely not! The ongoing developments by the Pratt & Miller workshops where cars are prepared, have managed to maintain the competitiveness of these machines to the point of winning brilliantly in Florida. The question is answered: the 'senior' is still capable of winning at Le Mans this year, both in GTE Pro and GTE Am

Oliver Gavin, driver: "You couldn't ask for a better start. Last season was very good but our performance at Sebring was not up to par. This win puts us in the lead of the series (ALMS). This is exactly what we wanted. We are proud of the whole Corvette Racing team who were unique during pit stops. It was spectacular to watch. “

* The Corvette C6.R appeared first in GT1 in 2005, before converting to GTE for the end of the 2009 season.
