On May 11th, the United Nations decided that the 2011-2020 decade would be called the "Action for road safety decade". The FIA and Jean Todt, its president, are very involved with the "ACTION FOR ROAD SAFETY" program.

A picture was taken this morning, featuring all the Peugeot, Corvette, Oreca, OAK Racing drivers, together with Vanina Ickx, Jean Todt (President of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) and Jean-Claude Plassart, President of the ACO. The aim of this scene is to increase public awareness, and demonstrate the commitment of the drivers towards the FIA's action, they all wore an "Action for Road Safety" t-shirt in order to promote the initiative, much to Jean Todt's delight.

"I was touched by the commitment of the ACO who set up this photo with the drivers”, says Jean Todt.” This enables us to shed light on something we don't usually see, namely the schemes launched throughout the world regarding road safety. Today, we reach out to 40 million people. The ACO has a strong international action in favour of road safety which reaches beyond motor racing, and we are committed together in this direction."

Tom Kristensen arrived a few minutes after the picture was taken, and slipped on the t-shirt for a picture with the President of the FIA: the involvement of "Mister Le Mans" reinforces even more the support of the drivers towards the initiative.
