The FIA World Motor Sport Council approves the 2019-2020 WEC calendar

The FIA World Motor Sport Council convened for a meeting yesterday in Paris and approved the calendar for the 2019-2020 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. Who will claim the top step at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 14 June 2020?

Yesterday in Paris the FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the calendar for the 2019-2020 WEC season comprised of eight races as follows:

  1. 1 September 2019: 4 Hours of Silverstone (GBR)
  2. 6 October 2019: 6 Hours of Fuji (JPN)
  3. 10 November 2019: 4 Hours of Shanghai (CHN)
  4. 14 December 2019: 8 Hours of Bahrain (BHR)
  5. 1 February 2020: 6 Hours of São Paulo (BRA)
  6. March 2020: 1,000 Miles of Sebring (8 hours) (USA) *
  7. 2 May 2020: 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL)
  8. 13-14 June 2020: 24 Hours of Le Mans (FRA)

The World Motor Sport Council then discussed the regulations set to go in effect September 2020 that will relegate the top class to "hypercar" prototypes. An estimate of the necessary budget was presented.
