Why the R'Hunaudières? Simply because a portion of the famous Mulsanne Straight is located within the limits of the small town of Ruaudin, a sister city to the Italian village of Uggiate-Trevano situated between Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. It was a natural extension of the relationship for the committee overseeing the event to decide to spotlight the prestigious transalpine cars. But in 2018, the committe has chosen to pay tribute to Ferrari's adversaries from the 1960s, the Ford GTs.
For Ford's return to Le Mans in 2016, the Ford GTs - winners four consecutive times at the 24 Hours between 1966 and 1969 - claimed the top step on the podium in their class, 50 years to the day after the American manufacturer's first victory.
On the 2018 R'Hunaudières poster (Facebook page), drawn once again by François Bruère, the official illustrator of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, figures the new version of the Ford GT alongside the legendary Ford GT40.
On June 12th, fans of the American marque will be able to attend the gathering free of charge in downtown Ruaudin, closed to traffic for the occasion.
