The number 1 at Le Mans.

The number 1 has been the most successful number to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with 10 victories in 81 editions.

The No. 1 claimed victory for the first time in 1929. Throughout the years, the number has made significant history along the way.

1929 : Sir Henry Birkin-Woolf Barnato (Bentley Speed Six)
British driver Woolf Barnato claimed the second of three consecutive victories making him the first triple winner at the 24 Hours (1928-1929-1930).

1939 : Jean Pierre Wimille-Pierre Veyron (Bugatti 57 C)
Bugatti and Jean-Pierre Wimille's second win, on the last edition of the 24 Hours before being interrupted for nine years due to World War II.

1967 : Dan Gurney-AJ Foyt (Ford Mk IV)
The two Americans were the first to break 5,000 km covered in the race (5,333 km, 218 kph average speed).

1982 : Jacky Ickx-Derek Bell (Porsche 956)
1986 : Hans Joachim Stück-Derek Bell-Al Holbert (Porsche 962 C)
In 1982, Jacky Ickx claimed his sixth and final victory at Le Mans. That year, Porsche began a run of seven consecutive wins.

1992 : Yannick Dalmas-Derek Warwick-Mark Blundell (Peugeot 905)
Peugeot raced the No.1 for the first of its three Le Mans successes.

2001 & 2002 : Frank Biela-Tom Kristensen-Emanuele Pirro (Audi R8)
2007 : Frank Biela-Emanuele Pirro-Marco Werner (Audi R10 TDI)
2012 : Marcel Fässler-André Lotterer-Benoît Tréluyer (Audi R18 e-tron quattro)
Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen and Emanuele Pirro were the first driver lineup of three drivers to take three consecutive wins (2000-2001-2002) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2012, Fässler-Lotterer-Tréluyer gave hybrid technology its first success, six years after Biela-Pirro-Werner won for the first time with a diesel powerplant, driving  the Audi R10 TDI.
