With 5,405 kilometers raced (at an average of 225 km/h), in 2010 Timo Bernhard and his teammates Romain Dumas and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi R15 TDI "Plus") established a new distance record at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, beating the one held since 1971 by Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep (Porsche 917). The German driver has also scored five victories at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (in a Porsche 911, four shared with Dumas and one with Rockenfeller), a race which includes 26 kilometers of the famous Nordschleife (22 km and some 170 turns) and the five kilometers of the 6 Hours of Nürburgring on August 30th.

Timo Bernhard: "I have never raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans without the chicanes at the Mulsanne Straight, but I think in terms of fun, Le Mans and the Nordschleife are quite similar. At the Nordschleife, you go up, you go down, there are three times as many turns. At Le Mans, it's all about high speeds, one often reaches 300 km/h. The Nordschleife and Le Mans are characteristically different, but one is just as exciting as the other."
