Today's Photo Story - First win for the official Corvette team at Le Mans in 2001

On January 17, 1953, the Corvette was presented for the first time to the public at General Motors' Motorama at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. On June 17, 2001, the official Corvette team clinched its first class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to C5-R.

A Corvette made its mark on the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 by winning its class thanks to the initiative of Briggs Cunningham, and the official Corvette Racing team made its first appearance at Le Mans in 2000. One year later, Doug Fehan's men achieved a one-two in the GTS class with an American-Canadian trio comprised of Scott Pruett, Johnny O’Connell and Ron Fellows. It was the beginning of a fantastic history for Corvette Racing which scored eight class victories between 2001 and 2015, including four one-twos.
