Today's Photo Story - Goodyear's first win at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans

On December 29, 1800 was born Charles Goodyear, inventor of the vulcanization required for the fabrication of tires. On June 20, 1965, American manufacturer Goodyear won the first of its 14 victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans thanks to the NART team's Ferrari 250.

Like Amato Ferrari, founder of the AF Corse team currently entering Ferraris in GT, who has nothing in common with the Italian marque other than in name, the Goodyear company found in 1898 by Frank Seiberling has nothing to do with Charles Goodyear who passed away in 1860. It was not until 1888 that John Dunlop filed a patent for wheels fitted with tires and 1906 that Michelin equipped the Renault that won the ACF Grand Prix, raced at Le Mans in 1906, with removable wheels.
