Tom Kristensen wins at Goodwood Revival!

Record-holder for the most wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with nine trophies, Tom Kristensen tried a new podium for size this weekend at the Goodwood Revival in the south of England.

The Dane made a superb recovery to claim the St Mary’s Trophy, the race for cars produced between 1960 and 1966. Having started from the back of the grid, Kristensen stormed ahead, to the joy of the 100,000 spectators lining the 3.8-kilometer course. He beat another Audi driver, Frank Stippler who won the 24 Hours of Nurburgring in 2012. “Mr Le Mans”'s former teammate, Emanuele Pirro (they won Le Mans three times together), was also in the line-up at the wheel of a Morris Mini Cooper S, but the car didn’t last the course.

This is not Kristensen’s first win at the Goodwood Revival. He took first place in the RAC Tourist Trophy Celebration in 2011. That time he raced a Cobra Daytona with Swede Kenny Bräck, winner of the 500 miles of Indianapolis in 1999. Two years ago, he won the first edition of the 6 Hours of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas with Loïc Duval and Allan McNish in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro. Don’t miss this year’s edition on 19 September. It will be the fifth leg of the World Endurance Championship.
