The Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, next-to-last round of the 2018-2019 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season, has competitors totally fired up. Some are busy figuring how many points are needed to secure a world title or trophy, all while forming a strategy to win a race that promises to be tricky, with challenging weather conditions including rain and cold temps. Others are developing plans to trip up certain infallible rivals in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 15-16 June.
Qualifying certainly demonstrated the level of competition in each of the classes:
In LMP1, the #7 Toyota driven by Kobayashi-Conway-Lopez clinched the pole in 1:53.747 (the average of the two qualifying drivers' fastest times) and set a record for Mike Conway in 1:53.683.
In LMP2, G-Drive is the pole-sitter thanks to a time of 2:00.674.
In LMGTE Pro, the #67 Ford shared by Priaulx-Tincknell clocked the quickest time in 2:12.885.
In LMGTE Am, the TF Sport team's Aston Martin scored its first pole position, in 2:16.061, and Charles Eastwood clocked an incredible 2:15.016 for his first qualifying in the WEC.
The start of the race will be given tomorrow at 13:30 local time.
