OAK Racing will again compete in the famous Le Mans event, entering three LM P2 prototypes, each of which corresponds to a full racing programme.
The major innovation will be the nr 33 OAK Racing Team Asia car. It was invited to take part at Le Mans after winning the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series, and is entered in the full 2014 season. A brand new closed prototype, the Ligier JS P2, from the Onroak Automotive workshops, will be in the hands of Chinese drivers Ho-Pin Tung and David Cheng. The car will be fitted with a Honda engine and will use Michelin tyres. OAK Racing Team Asia, bearing the colours of Total China, will then head to Asia to take part in the five rounds of the 2014 Asian Le Mans Series.
Thanks to its LM P2 victory in the 2013 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and its entry in the Tudor United Sportscar Championship, OAK Racing will be able to use its second invitation, entering the nr 35 Morgan-Nissan LM P2 car. Alex Brundle will be returning to OAK Racing for another edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, having finished second in 2013. As announced earlier this week, the young British driver will also compete in five rounds of the American Tudor USCC series. The Le Mans-based team will shortly announce the names of the drivers who will join Alex in the nr 35 Morgan-Nissan.
This car will bear the colours of G-Drive, as will the nr 26 Morgan-Nissan LM P2, entered by G-Drive Racing and run by OAK Racing. Roman Rusinov, Olivier Pla and Julien Canal will be the line-up for the full FIA World Endurance Championship. The two Morgan-Nissan LM P2 cars will run on Dunlop tyres during the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as will the nr 26 car for the full Championship.
Philippe Dumas, Team Principal : “We are proud to announce such a full and varied programme. OAK Racing will be present around the endurance world with extremely competitive cars and drivers. Our aim is obviously to win as many races and titles as we can, for the team and for our manufacturer Onroak Automotive. The whole technical team is more motivated than ever, and I am delighted that our existing drivers are helping the newcomers to become part of the team, as we have already seen, both in Daytona and during the first tests.
Our aim is to put everything in place to repeat our 2013 performances. The new challenge in America is particularly exciting: we will be discovering a new world where motorsports have a real aura, and with the additional bonus of hoping to cross the finish line in first position with an LM P2 car !”
