At the end of last year, Jordan Taylor - Grand Am Series title-holder in last season's American championship -presented a challenge on Twitter: if he amassed 10,000 followers, he would grow his hair out in a style reminiscent of the 1970s and 80s. Even though he did not reach his goal, he currently boasts a mullet which he will sacrifice before the 6 Hours of Watkins Glen so as to make a donation to two underprivileged youth organizations.

Long hair at the neck, short on the sides and long and spiky on top: such was the hairstyle of many footballers, mainly German, and singers like Rod Stewart and David Bowie, in the 80s. Having become a symbol of kitsch, the mullet is back in style thanks to Jordan Taylor, recent winner in Detroit of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race along with his brother Ricky, in the car of his father Wayne's outfit.

At the beginning of the season, Jordan Taylor challenged Internet users: collect $10,000 to help two organizations, Camp Boggy Creek and Camp Anokijig, summer camps for underprivileged kids. The goal was surpassed and one donor chosen at random will get a mullet cut before the Watkins Glen race. The donor will also be able to attend the race and take a lap of the circuit in a Daytona Prototype.

Thanks to the Internet buzz and the many photos posted on his Twitter feed, Jordan Taylor has made a name for himself...all for a good cause !
