TUSC - Matt McMurry, the youngest driver at Le Mans, joins Michael Shank Racing (Ligier)

Matt McMurry, who in June became the youngest driver ever to take the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and cross the finish line, will next year join the Michael Shank Racing team who have acquired a Ligier JS P2 for the North American Endurance Cup - the four endurance races of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The young American driver, who competed in the entire European Le Mans Series season with Greaves Motorsport, will most likely become the youngest driver to take the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona - at the wheel of a prototype since he will share the Ligier JS P2 powered by HPD (Honda Performance Development) with drivers Ozz Negri and John Pew for the four races of the NAEC (24 Hours of Daytona, 12 Hours of Sebring, 6 Hours of Watkins Glen and Petit Le Mans). The trio will be supported by NASCAR driver A.J. Allmendinger.

Matt McMurry: "I had a chance to compete against the Ligier at Le Mans and throughout the ELMS season last year. It was very competitive right away and will only get stronger as it’s furthered developed. I can’t wait to drive it for the first time and to work with Mike (Shank) and the team. He has always had a strong program, and I’m looking forward to being a part of it this year."

The son of Chris McMurry - who has participed in the 24 Hours himself - finished second in the LM P2 class in Le Mans in June at the wheel of the Zytek Z11SN-Nissan that he drove during the ELMS season, with a seventh place finale in the Driver standings as result.
