Two Le Mans Porsches on parade at Nürburgring

Two Porsches will be performing a demonstration lap as a prelude to the 24 Hours of Nürburgring on 12 and 13 May. The LE Mans-winning 919 Hybrid Evo and 956C will be on parade before the start of the German classic.

Timo Bernhard, winner of the last 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be at the wheel of the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo. The Evo version has more power and different aerodynamics compared to the  919 Hybrid LMP1 that was fielded in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) from 2015 to 2017 and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times. The beauty set a new track record  of 1:41.770 at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on 9 April in the hands of Neel Jani. This is the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo’s first outing in public and marks the beginning of the 919 Tribute Tour.

Hans-Joachim Stuck, Le Mans winner in 1986 and 1987, will drive the Porsche 956 C that was world champion from 1982 to 1984. It won the Le Mans 24 hours four times:

The two cars will do a lap of honour behind a safety car, before the start of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. The circuit is a favourite for the Porsche 956 C, which still holds the Nordschleife record set in 1983 when Stefan Bellof completed a lap of the 20.832-kilometre circuit in 6:11.13!
