Two more teams earn invitations to take part in the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours

The Monza round of the European Le Mans Series and the Michelin Le Mans Cup saw two more teams earn a highly-prized invitation to take part in the next 24 Hours of Le Mans on 12–13 June 2021.

In the European Le Mans Series, the number of invitations to the French 24-hour marathon varies according to the size of the LMP2 and LMGTE fields. There are 14 teams in LMP2 this season, which means two invitations will be awarded. The first was snapped up by Anglo-American team United Autosports at the 4 Hours of Monza last weekend. The second recipient will be decided at the 4 Hours of Portimão, the final round of the championship, on 1 November. United Autosports, Graff and G-Drive are all serious contenders. Invitations are also extended to the winner of LMP3 and high performers in the LMGTE class.

Michelin Le Mans Cup GT3 entrants also compete for one of the precious tickets to Le Mans. Having won the championship at Monza, Iron Lynx has already earned the privilege and intends to enter a team in LMGTE Am. The top five Michelin Le Mans Cup participants in LMP3 have fast-track access to the European Le Mans Series.

Two teams have already secured slots on next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans grid:

United Autosports, winner of LMP2 (invitation for LMP2);
TF Sport, winner of LMGTE Am (invitation in LMGTE Am).

More invitations are pending the results of the FIA WEC, Asian Le Mans Series and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
