The year 2012 was most prosperous for Ryan Dalziel, present in three high level championships: with a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the LM P2 title for Starworks Motorsports in the FIA World Endurance Championship and second in Grand Am driving a Daytona Prototype, and run by the team of Peter Baron, three victories in the ALMS LM PC category.
In 2013, the American Starworks Motorsports team was content to compete in Grand Am, while the winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2010, crossed the finish line at Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans in a Viper, which was returning to endurance racing.
It will be good to see him again in the 24 Hours of Daytona next year, Ryan Dalziel changes from his Daytona Prototype to slip into the seat of a Honda HPD ARX-03c of the Extreme Speed Motorsports team. It has struggled all year against the Level 5 Motorsports team in the ALMS, and had to give second best in the teams and drivers titles to them, even if Scott Sharp, the owner-driver, had been fighting to get the crown at the last race at Road Atlanta last Saturday.
Ryan Dalziel will team up with Scott Sharp, who he met in the paddock of the ALMS: "Scott (Sharp) and I have chatted a lot over the past couple of seasons. With my previous commitments it’s been difficult to make a deal happen, but we have eventually managed to make it happen. I could not be happier or any more excited about joining ESM in 2014. It’s great to have Scott as my full-time teammate. We have become good friends off the track. A big part of me is sad to leave Starworks but this was too good an opportunity to pass up and I know Starworks will continue to grow without me and continue to be race winners. And the other part of me is really happy to be look towards a new challenge."
