In this video from 2011, three eye witnesses describe Ford's first two victories at the Le Mans 24 Hours: Edsel Ford, whose father Henry Ford II initiated this programme to beat Ferrari, Racing Engine Engineer Mose Nowland and Dan Gurney who won the 24 Hours at the wheel of the Ford Mk IV in 1967. Commentary in English.

In 1966, the New Zealand duo of Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren (Ford Mk II) led a triple finish for the American manufacturer, completed by John Miles - Dennis Hulme and Ronnie Bucknum - Dick Hutcherson. The following year there was another Ford victory at the 24 hours for Dan Gurney and AJ Foyt (Ford Mk IV) persued by the Ferrari of Ludovico Scarfiotti and Michael Parkes. They were the first to cross the threshold of 5000 km traveled, despite retirement of seven of the nine Fords entered. Bruce McLaren and Mark Donohue also managed to go the distance, finishing fourth.

The winning streak of the Ford GT40 continued with the British team of John Wyer, who won with Pedro Rodriguez-Lucien Bianchi (1968) and Jacky Ickx-Jackie Oliver (1969), and made the blue and orange Gulf oil Company part of the legend of Le Mans.

The 90th anniversary 24 Hours of Le Mans will be on the 22nd and 23rd June 2013.
