Day 2 of 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans scrutineering live!

Scrutineering at the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans will come to a close today, Saturday 6 June with another thrilling day in the heart of the city. On the agenda are the final technical checks, the arrival of the Ferrari and Toyota Hypercars and an exceptional parade through the streets as the atmosphere ratchets up another notch on the eve of Test Day.

The first major race week event, the administrative and technical checks known as Scrutineering, will come to a close today at the place de la R&eacute;publique in the Le Mans city centre. After an electric first day, the technical marshals will continue their inspections with the last&nbsp;23 cars entered in the 94th running of the race.

Several among the cars expected today will pull focus, namely the&nbsp;Ferrari 499P of&nbsp;Ferrari AF Corse and&nbsp;Toyota TR010 Hybrid of&nbsp;Toyota Racing. Both considered&nbsp;top contenders in the Hypercar class, they will compete against&nbsp;the&nbsp;Alpine A424, Aston Martin Valkyrie, BMW M Hybrid V8, Cadillac V-Series.R, Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar and&nbsp;Peugeot 9X8 already cleared to take the start in the race.

In the GT class, the&nbsp;Ferrari 296 LMGT3 Evo, Mercedes-AMG LMGT3, Lexus RC F LMGT3, McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evo and&nbsp;BMW M4 LMGT3 Evo will&nbsp;round out&nbsp;this exceptional open-air show.&nbsp;Seeing these cars gathered so closely together, right in the heart of the city, remains a rare thrill&nbsp;and a direct encounter with the most spectacular facet&nbsp;of endurance racing!

The day is far from over after Scrutineering ends and will spill out into the&nbsp;streets of Le&nbsp;Mans.

Starting at 15:00, 19 cars will parade&nbsp;through the city cheered on by thousands of adoring fans.&nbsp;From the place du Jet d&rsquo;eau to the place des Jacobins, they will make their way through the town awash in&nbsp;applause and&nbsp;that wonderful collective energy that always accompanies the opening days of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

From Hypercars to LMGT3s and LMP2s, this procession will offer an unforgettable experience of&nbsp;seeing the competing cars in action up close and off the circuit in&nbsp;an urban setting transformed by the magic of the 24 Hours.

Just days ahead of the 94th 24 Hours of Le Mans on 13 June, the administrative and technical checks known as Scrutineering have won the hearts of the city. From debut appearances, confident self-promotion and intense public enthusiasm, this opening day offered a glimpse into a race shaping up to be more thrilling than ever!

Le Mans is back!&nbsp;On Friday 5 June at the place de la R&eacute;publique, the first of two days of&nbsp;administrative and&nbsp;technical checks known as Scrutineering officially launched race week at the 94th 24 Hours.&nbsp;

Today 39 of&nbsp;62 competitors took turns submitting to the technical marshals in front of thousands of&nbsp;spectators overjoyed to see the&nbsp;Hypercars, LMP2s and&nbsp;LMGT3s up close. A highlight was the arrival of the rookie&nbsp;Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001 Hypercars!

<h2>Inter Europol Competition lives up to the hype in LMP2</h2>

The first team on deck today was&nbsp;Inter Europol Competition. The Polish team, last year&#39;s LMP2 winner,&nbsp;arrived&nbsp;in&nbsp;Le Mans backed by an impressive track record here. Driver of the #43 ORECA 07-Gibson&nbsp;Kuba Śmiechowski:&nbsp;We are coming off three consecutive podium finishes. This year, we want to win again.

Teammate Tom Dillmann:&nbsp;There is no race greater than the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I think we are still the favourites. Honestly, our car is performing very well here. In the LMP2 class, it comes down to merit. We all have the same package. So, it is up to the teams and drivers to make the difference. You have to be fast throughout the entire race.

<h2>BMW riding the momentum of its&nbsp;maiden win</h2>

Leading the standings in the FIA Endurance Hypercar Manufacturers Championship after a win&nbsp;at the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, BMW M Team WRT is heading into the season&#39;s main event with&nbsp;confidence. Kevin Magnussen:&nbsp;We are well-prepared for the most important race of the year,&nbsp;one we need to win. Even so, it is impossible to single out a favourite for an event like this. Everyone has a chance. That said, we are definitely&nbsp;full of energy and hope after&nbsp;the race at Spa.

<h2>Genesis Magma Racing takes the stage with its GMR-001</h2>

One of the big draws of the&nbsp;2026 24 Hours is the arrival of&nbsp;the Genesis Magma Racing GMR-001 Hypercars&nbsp;clad in a spectacular, shimmering orange livery that evokes the magma of Korean volcanoes. <a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/genesis-magma-racings-plan-to-take-on-the-24-hours-of-le-mans-60683" target="_blank">Hyundai&#39;s luxury model is making its rookie debut at Le Mans with humility</a>. Three-time winner&nbsp;Andr&eacute; Lotterer knows better than anyone what awaits the newcomer.

Andr&eacute; Lotterer:&nbsp;We know how challenging it is&nbsp;to make a breakthrough in the very first year of competition, especially against teams with so much experience. Our approach is quite simple: to&nbsp;focus on our performance while getting the most out of the car. Our goal is to reach the finish line and, in doing so, build a solid foundation for the future.&nbsp;

<h2>Peugeot celebrates a century of history and&nbsp;looks to the future</h2>

Peugeot took its first start in&nbsp;the Le Mans classic&nbsp;100 years ago.&nbsp;Now the French carmaker&nbsp;returns seeking to&nbsp;turn&nbsp;progress made since the beginning&nbsp;of the season into tangible results. Driver of the #94&nbsp;Peugeot 9X8&nbsp;Lo&iuml;c Duval:&nbsp;We want to optimise our package and achieve the best possible result. Test Day will be crucial. Our cars are designed to perform at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but outside of testing and the race itself, we never get to drive on the circuit.

Teammate Malthe Jakobsen:&nbsp;This progress is a huge source of motivation for the entire team. I believe we have demonstrated real potential. That is possible when the group is united. At the same time, the start of the season has shown that the FIA ​​WEC is a highly competitive championship where nothing comes easily. We need to get all the details right to turn our capabilities into results.

<h2>Aston Martin THOR Team aiming vying for&nbsp;the&nbsp;podium</h2>

Thanks to the&nbsp;inimitable&nbsp;sound of its&nbsp;naturally aspirated V12, the Aston Martin Valkyrie continues to electrify fans. Following a successful debut in 2025, the British constructor is back&nbsp;with even loftier&nbsp;ambitions. The #007 Aston Martin finished fourth at this year&#39;s&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of&nbsp;Spa-Francorchamps trailed by two&nbsp;BMWs and a&nbsp;Ferrari. Driver of the #007, Tom Gamble:&nbsp;Last year, the goal was to finish the race, gather as much data as possible&nbsp;and learn. The car is becoming increasingly competitive. We are working tirelessly to improve it. The result at Spa is highly motivating ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We are hoping&nbsp;for a podium finish.

Cadillac is one of the most highly anticipated marques&nbsp;this year. Since joining&nbsp;the Hypercar class in 2023, the&nbsp;V-Series.R&nbsp;has carved out a special place in the hearts of fans thanks to its workhorse&nbsp;naturally aspirated V8.

After extensive development efforts completed over the winter months, the American carmaker&nbsp;likes its chances. Driver of the #12 Cadillac Will Stevens:&nbsp;We had a good preparation period. It allowed us to understand the car&#39;s evolution. We delivered strong performances in the first two rounds of the season. That gives us confidence. Driver of the #38, S&eacute;bastien Bourdais:&nbsp;We hope to be able to fight for something bigger than Hyperpole. Our package should be competitive. I think this will be one of the closest races in the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.&nbsp;

<h2>Alpine bowing out in style</h2>

Lastly, Alpine Endurance Team wrapped up the proceedings in the&nbsp;Hypercar class on day 1 of Scrutineering with its two&nbsp;A424s.&nbsp;Although the manufacturer&nbsp;has announced the&nbsp;shuttering&nbsp;of&nbsp;its endurance racing programme at the end of the year, it remains no less ambitious. Team Principal Philippe Sinault:&nbsp;We have never been better prepared. We really understand the&nbsp;car. The team is mature. Since the start of the season, we have taken a step forward in both sporting and technical terms. As a result, we are capable of achieving great things in this 94th running. When you are Alpine and you take part in this race, you have to be determined.&nbsp;

<h2>Will Doriane Pin become the first woman driver on the 24 hours of le mans podium?</h2>

One of two female drivers set to take the start in the 2026 24 Hours, Doriane Pin (age 22) will represent Duqueine Team in LMP2.

The French outfit is currently leading the&nbsp;LMP2 Pro/Am class in the&nbsp;European Le Mans Series after two rounds. We have a real shot at a podium finish or even the win in LMP2. We have every reason to believe it&rsquo;s possible.

<h2>Ferrari, Corvette, Ford, Aston Martin, Ford and&nbsp;Porsche &ndash; GT fans are in heaven!</h2>

GT enthusiasts were in no way disappointed on&nbsp;day 1 of Scrutineering as&nbsp;Ferrari, Corvette, Aston Martin, Ford, and Porsche put on a spectacular parade at the place de la R&eacute;publique.

Driver of Vista AF Corse&#39;s #21 Ferrari 296 LMGT3 EVO Fran&ccedil;ois H&eacute;riau:&nbsp;We finished second on the podium last year. Now, we want more. We are going to do everything we can to take the top spot. We are extremely&nbsp;well-prepared. I have been teaming up with Simon Mann and Alessio Rovera for three seasons now and&nbsp;we have developed a natural rapport and really enjoy our time together. Our team spirit will certainly be an asset.

In the&nbsp;LMGT3 class, history is in the making as&nbsp;Ferrari gets ready to&nbsp;face off once again against&nbsp;Ford. The German team Proton Competition has entered two&nbsp;Mustang LMGT3s. At the wheel of the&nbsp;#88 is a former Formula 1 driver&nbsp;(36 starts) gearing up for his rookie&nbsp;24 Hours.&nbsp;Logan Sargeant:&nbsp;This will be my second 24-hour race, following the Rolex 24 at Daytona I competed in earlier this year. I hope our race goes well. It&rsquo;s so&nbsp;exciting.

Driver of the #77 Ford, Ben Tuck:&nbsp;The car has evolved significantly over the past three years. It is very difficult to say whether we are favourites or challengers this week. Even after the Test Day, it is hard to establish a pecking order. We won&rsquo;t truly know the competitive landscape until the first two or three laps of the race. We hope to be in the mix.&nbsp;

There is no fast track to conquering Le&nbsp;Mans. It takes patience, inspiration and individuals capable of working together toward a common goal. Genesis Magma Racing understands the assignment.&nbsp;As it prepares for its first&nbsp;24 Hours, the South Korean marque has developed&nbsp;a meticulously curated&nbsp;project, fuelled by experience and driven by the need&nbsp;to learn quickly. The two&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/genesis-takes-the-wraps-of-its-gmr-001-hypercar-59196" target="_blank">GMR-001-Hypercars</a>&nbsp;entered&nbsp;in the 94th running of the race represent more than a new name on the starting grid, they are the result of a&nbsp;specific vision.

September&nbsp;2024: Genesis officially announces its participation in the&nbsp;Hypercar class. Three months later, the&nbsp;GMR-001-Hypercar is unveiled. On&nbsp;19 April, Genesis Magma Racing took its first start in an FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) race, the&nbsp;6 Hours of Imola, less than&nbsp;500 days after the initial announcement. On&nbsp;9 May, the constructor earned its first points at the&nbsp;TotalEnergies 6 Hours of&nbsp;Spa-Francorchamps.

Ahead of the&nbsp;24 Hours of Le&nbsp;Mans, the GMR-001-Hypercar has covered&nbsp;more than&nbsp;25,000 km of tests, a crucial&nbsp;achievement&nbsp;because in endurance racing, driving means learning.&nbsp;Paul-Loup Chatin (#19&nbsp;Genesis GMR-001-Hypercar driver):&nbsp;We need to be as productive as possible throughout the testing sessions. We have conducted several endurance tests to simulate a 24-hour race, so we are arriving with some experience under our belts. Even so, no test can match the reality of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Genesis has been preparing for its first appearance in the iconic race&nbsp;exactly how it should, with diligence and without skipping any steps.

<h2>The company you keep</h2>

Building a competitive Hypercar also means knowing how to seek help from the best&nbsp;of the best. The team&nbsp;entrusted its chassis to ORECA, a top contender&nbsp;in modern endurance racing. It&#39;s a strategic choice shared by other major names in the discipline, such as Alpine and Ford, the latter of which will begin competing in 2027.

The project&#39;s true strength is the people behind it. At the helm is&nbsp;<a href="https://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/cyril-abiteboul-genesis-a-two-car-finish-would-be-out-of-this-world-60377" target="_blank">Cyril Abiteboul</a>&nbsp;bringing top-tier&nbsp;experience gained in Formula&nbsp;1 then&nbsp;rally with Hyundai Motorsport. His right-hand man is chief engineer&nbsp;Justin Taylor&nbsp;supervising the&nbsp;technical side of the&nbsp;programme along with sporting director&nbsp;Gabriele Tarquini and team manager&nbsp;Hanouk Abadie handling the day-to-day.

Genesis has opted for&nbsp;experience behind the wheel as well. Three-time Le&nbsp;Mans winner&nbsp;Andr&eacute; Lotterer is not just a fast driver.&nbsp;His 14 appearances &mdash; including 13 in the top&nbsp;class &mdash; are an immeasurable&nbsp;asset for a rookie team in such an unforgiving&nbsp;environment.&nbsp;The addition&nbsp;of Mathieu Jaminet further reinforces&nbsp;this strength. This&nbsp;participation is meant to introduce&nbsp;the marque&nbsp;to the world of endurance racing and understand&nbsp;what Le Mans truly demands. It&#39;s about&nbsp;mastering the sheer length of the&nbsp;race, navigating the night hours and&nbsp;various&nbsp;temperature changes, physical exhaustion&nbsp;and split-second decisions.&nbsp;

What is clear to everyone in the paddock is that simply finishing your&nbsp;first 24 Hours&nbsp;is an achievement in itself. And if one of the GMR-001 Hypercars were to pass under the chequered flag on the same lap as the winner, it&nbsp;would be an outstanding&nbsp;result and an ideal foundation for the future.

When can Genesis Magma Racing start to set its sights on an overall win? Chatin:&nbsp;We have to be realistic. The most important thing is to keep building this project so that we can say&nbsp;we are coming to win. We will say that when we are truly ready. But, everything is in place to ensure our&nbsp;success.&nbsp;

The team&#39;s&nbsp;project is being&nbsp;built methodically,&nbsp;driven by recognised talent&nbsp;and honed over thousands of kilometres, yet remaining&nbsp;humble enough to recognise the Le Mans classic for the beast it is.

	Before participating in the 81st edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, HVM Status GP prepares to join the Autodromo Enzo &amp; Dino Ferrari in Imola to compete in this weekend&#39;s second round European Le Mans Series (ELMS). As in 2012 the Irish team has decided to maintain the same program and renew its confidence in his Lola B12/80 Coupe - Judd with which the team had already shown last season. For his co-owner Keith Wiggins, the 2013 season promises to be exciting: &quot;After our first season where we made significant technical progress, here we are back in a new season. Le Mans remains a key objective.&rdquo;

	One of the three drivers who will participate at Le Mans. It is the young Swiss Jonathan Hirschi: &quot;I am delighted to join the team HVM Status Grand Prix at Le Mans. We truly have a competitive race car in which there has been a lot of investment. Mechanics and engineers have done a great job.&rdquo; The young driver has fond memories of Le Mans: &quot;Le Mans was like a childhood dream. My grandfather could not stop talking about the famous Ford GT 40 then when the team Matech Comp&eacute;titino suggested I drive a Ford at Le Mans, it was an extraordinary experience. &quot; But before his fourth appointment in La Sarthe, Jonathan Hirschi goes to Imola for the ELMS race this weekend.

	HVM Status Grand Prix clearly has serious potential to play a leading role in LM P2 prototypes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013 on the 22nd and 23rd June. In this video, footage from a camera mounted aboard the Lola of the Irish team, filmed during the 2012 ELMS season.
