On 3rd December 2012 the Automobile Club de l’Ouest launched a competition on internet and the social media to elect the ten most prestigious cars in the history of the Le Mans 24 Hours with big prizes for the winners. This election is the first of the commemorative events to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the legendary endurance race in 2013. To date, more than 8000 people have already filled in the questionnaire available on lemans.org. Attention all motor sport enthusiasts: only a week left to send in your votes!
The ten cars selected will then be assembled and will be the centerpiece of a totally new prestigious exhibition; they will also be part of a number of exceptional operations during the week of the 2013 Le Mans 24-Hours on 22-23 June.
The competition began on 3rd December and already more than 8000 car fans and surfers have sent in their votes. The first stage of this wide-ranging consultation will end on 15th January with the election by the public of the ten cars that have written the legend of the Le Mans 24 Hours – one per decade.
The next stage: a jury of prestigious international specialists presided by Pierre Fillon, the president of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, will meet on 1st February to finalize this list. The votes of the public will count for one vote during this meeting. A draw will then decide the ten winners among those who nominated the ten cars selected after the final vote and they will share the prizes awarded by the ACO. These have a total value of 6855 euros (pitwalk passes, a complete collection of Yearbooks, entrance tickets, track baptisms, clothes from the ACO collections, etc).
The game is simple: join the community of fans on the Le Mans 24-Hours Facebook page (24 Heures du Mans – ACO Officiel), tab ‘election’ or the lemans.org page and follow the instructions.
