A wide-ranging TV distribution package has been organised for the fifth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship which will be held in the shadow of the beautiful Mount Fuji in Japan on Sunday, 12th October. Fuji International Speedway will host the 6 Hours of Fuji and all eyes will be on Toyota Racing as it goes for its third victory of the season.
Alongside Toyota Racing’s two TS040 Hybrid entries will be LM P1s from Audi and Porsche, the two German manufacturers determined to increase their lead in the Manufacturers Championship and get their first FIA WEC win respectively. Also due to be present, as its participation in the 2015 championship approaches ever faster, will be Nissan – the Japanese manufacturer already with a strong interest in the FIA WEC through provision of engines in the LM P2 category.
A full weekend of racing and entertainment is planned for fans, with the start of the 6 Hours of Fuji due to be given at 11h00 local (04h00 CET).
For those unlucky fans not able to experience the warmth of the Japanese welcome in person, the race will be available to follow through various media. In Japan, J Sports will be showing the whole race LIVE and direct in addition to a number of highlights shows to be shown at regular intervals in the two weeks following the race.
Eurosport Asia Pacific will also broadcast the race to its 13 territories on a delayed basis, also with repeats to be shown after the event. Channel Max Shanghai will also take the broadcast live, with endurance racing growing in popularity and the 6 Hours of Shanghai being the next round in the FIA WEC. Australia’s Fox Sports will be covering the majority of the race live, and New Zealand’s TV3 will show a 52 minutes highlights package at a later date. Sony Six’s 45 million potential viewers will have the chance to experience the best that endurance racing has to offer through a 52 minute highlights package, as do Thailand’s fans via the Grand Prix Channel.
In Europe, the 6 Hours of Fuji will be available live on Motors TV, and it will also be shown to Eurosport Inter’s 136 million potential viewers on a delayed basis with replays also to be broadcast on Eurosport 2 in the days following the race. The Serbo-Croatian countries, Hungary, Denmark, Austria, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece will all be broadcasting a 52-minutes highlights programme.
Fox Sports 1 and Fox LATAM will air the highlights show, while Sport TV or TV Globo will show the first and last hours of the race live. BeIn Sports will broadcast the race live on top of a 52 minute highlight show.
In addition to the TV coverage, the race can be followed live and direct, together with full timekeeping, via the FIA WEC’s updated second screen ‘App’, available to download from the iTunes store or Google Play Store - search for ‘FIA World Endurance Championship’ or ‘FIA WEC’.
Internationally renowned endurance racing radioweb service, Radio Le Mans (www.radiolemans.com), will once again be available for its huge number of listeners all around the world. News access will also be available on EBU/Eurovision, SNTV, Reuters and Omnisports worldwide.
