WEC - A video look at the aerodynamics behind the BMW M8 GTE

In just a few months time, the BMW M8 GTE will make its debut in the 2018-2019 Super Season of the World Endurance Championship. The car will also line up at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 16 and 17 June next year. It is now undergoing heavy testing so should be alll set when the season starts!

For its M8 GTE, BMW has opted for a V8 bi-turbo 4-litre engine delivering 500 hp. The aerodynamics on the stunningly designed car were developed using the very latest computing power. This approach makes it possible to run a multitude of simulations before the car even enters the wind tunnel. The resulting design is then put to the test out on the track, as this video shows.

Martin Tomczyk, 2011 DTM champion, Antonio Felix da Costa, Philipp Eng and Alexander Sims took turns behind the wheel recently at a 24-hour endurance test at Circuit Paul Ricard in France. Preparations for the iconic race are already well under way!
