WEC - Andy Priaulx, one of Ford's new drivers (video)
Andy Priaulx has spent the majority of his career with BMW in DTM, WTCC and in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). After more than 12 years in the Bavarian manufacturer's fold, the British driver will now represent Ford in the WEC.
The three-time WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) champion knows endurance well. Indeed, he won at the 2005 24 Hours of Nürburgring. After a long break, busy with other championships, he returned to endurance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. Then he was involved in the BMW Motorsport program, competing in the ILMC (International Le Mans Cup) in 2011 where he finished as vice-champion. The same year, he participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans a second time and more successfully than the preceding season, reaching the third step on the LM GTE Pro podium.
Then Priaulx raced in the U.S. and also in Europe where he drove the BMW Z4 GTE entered by BMW Sports Trophy Marc VDS, finishing second in the 2015 European Le Mans Series drivers championship.
The 41-year-old has brought to an end the long BMW chapter of his career and will now dedicate himself to a new manufacturer, Ford, with whom he will participate in the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC) and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
