WEC Bahrain - Presentation

The grand finale of the 2015 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, the 6 Hours of Bahrain - which will take place Saturday, November 21st - is looking more competitive than ever. Eight titles and trophies are still up for grabs, with special attention being paid to the fight for the world drivers title.

After the 6 Hours of Shanghai, the world constructors title and the FIA Endurance LM P1 Private Team Trophy have been won by Porsche and Rebellion Racing, respectively. At Bahrain, all eyes will be on the No. 17 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Timo Bernhard-Brendon Hartley-Mark Webber and the No. 7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro of Marcel Fässler-André Lotterer-Benoît Tréluyer. The two driver line-ups in the battle for the drivers title are only 12 points apart, and a win is worth 25 points. It's up in the air as well for the World Endurance GT Constructors and Drivers title, as well as for the FIA Endurance trophy for drivers and teams in the LM P2, LM GTE Pro and LM GTE Am classes. A third former winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take a bow after this closing round: after Allan McNish in 2013 and Tom Kristensen in 2014, it will be Alexander Wurz's turn to retire from racing.

For this eighth and final round of the 2015 World Endurance Championship season, here are eight questions that will be answered under the checkered flag of a race that will end at night (at 6:00 p.m. in the U.K.): will Porsche add the drivers title to the constructors title clinched at Shanghai? With only a four-point lead on Porsche, will Ferrari score a fourth consecutive GT contructors World Cup? Who will emerge victorious from the fierce duel between G-Drive Racing's Ligier and KCMG's Oreca 05 in the LM P2 class? Will Richard Lietz (Porsche) earn the GT drivers title by himself up against the Ferrari driver line-ups? Winners in the LM GTE Am  class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will SMP Racing and its drivers maintain their advantage in the lead of the provisional standings? How will the chassis of the BR01-Nissan fair, making its debut in the World Championship in the highly competitive field in the LM P2 class? Will the Alpine A450b claim a third consecutive LM P2 podium finish after its second place at Fuji and its win at Shanghai? Will Larbre Compétition's Corvette (LM GTE Am) confirm the competitiveness demonstrated during the races at Fuji and at Shanghai?
