Founded in 2012 by a Formula 1 engineer, the RAM Racing team - during its first full season on European soil - won Teams and Drivers titles, paving the way for an invitation to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The British team logically decided to go the extra mile in 2014 and make its presence known on the global stage of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in two different classes, LM GTE Pro and Am, not hesitating to challenge "factory" teams with its Ferrari F458 Italia car.
Going up against official drivers, RAM Racing team had to recruit a renowned one. Certainly Matt Griffin, thanks to his ELMS title, went from "silver" to "gold" status in the course of the season, but a driver capable of assisting him was needed. It would end up being Alvaro Parente (Facebook and Twitter), official McLaren driver, who was to be "loaned" by the English automaker. The Portuguese driver, who became champion in British F3 and in Formula Renault 3.5, joined the Sébastien Loeb Racing Team in the FIA GT Series last year, eventually finishing fourth.
At the gates of F1 after several years in the GP2 Series, Alvaro Parente turned to endurance for a new challenge: "The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is a championship that grows with teams and solid drivers. RAM Racing earned a title in the ELMS in 2013 and I feel that the team has the ambition and drive to succeed. Matt is a very good driver so I think we have all the ingredients to get good results during the season. As always, I will do my best and I hope to justify the confidence placed in me by RAM Racing. I would also like to thank McLaren GT for allowing me to take on this new challenge."
RAM Racing will compete at the 6 Hours of Silvertsone, first round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season on April 20th
