WEC - Final highlights from the 6 Hours of Silverstone (video)

The 50,000 spectators in attendance at the Silverstone circuit for the kickoff of the 2017 World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) season were witness to a breathtaking race from start to finish, with an uncertain outcome in part due to the rain that poured down several times at the British circuit.

The clear favorite as a result of its technical decisions, the official Toyota team wound up with the overall victory, but the race itself was no cake walk: an incident for debuting driver José María López in the #7 Toyota TS050 HYBRID which caused the appearance of the safety car and longer pit stops than its rival Porsche were enough to undermine the lead of the #8 Toyota TS050 HYBRID on the track, forcing Sébastien Buemi to undertake a stunning climb back in the final hour of the race to cross the finish line in first place.

The deployment of the safety car shook things up in all the classes as shown in this video summary of the race…
